Day 2, December 3rd

Breakfast
I ordered waffles from room service because we had to leave bright and early to go to Playa Del Caren.

Other Travel Agents
We had to meet in the lobby at 9:00 a.m. I finally go to meet everyone. I was surprised that there were so many....about 31. One lady is from Ottawa, IL, so I asked her is she likes Walt Willy. LOL

Transportation
There is heightened security due to the Un ited Nations Climate Change Conference that is taking place in Playa Del Carmen. They are staying at the Moon Palace resort and even built a bridge to bypass the resort.

Gina caught me up on the wedding information on the way to Playa.

THE Royal in Playa Del Carmen
We were greeted with cool washcloths and a welcome drink.

We all gathered at the base of the lobby where they gave us the best drink I've had in a long time called a Mango de Coco.

Tour
We started our tour with a Mayan wedding ceremony, which was very interesting. I would definitely recommend this to my clients if they are looking for a unique experience. Next,, we witnessed a Christian wedding. Touring with us was a group of people from the Press.

Next, we toured THE Royal in Playa Del Carmen and they had a typical wedding luncheon for us. It was unusual that they had ordered Lamb. We thought that was a strange choice, but it ended up being delicious. They also had Tango dancers perform as well. Then the Gran Porto Real (next door). I liked the Gran Porto Real because there are many different textures and it's authentic Mexican in style. The poole seemed overly busy, but otherwise, I really liked it.

Gina changed the itinerary when we arived so that we could tour the resorts today and have a free day tomorrow except for dinner.

We wrapped up at 4:00 p.m.

Rooms
I got my own room again, fortunately. Some Travel Agents have to share and only have a king bed! That was the joke of the day.

Wal-Mart
As soon as we wrapped up, I ran to my room, threw my stuff down and headed to Wal-Mart to get my prescription. They only had 3 boxes, so I bought those.

I bought 3 more at another Pharmacy in town, but they were around $2.00 more. Some Pharmacies will still sell you antibioutics and others will not.

Rolandi's
After Wal-Mart I went to Rolandi's to see if Omar was there. He recognized me right away and came running over to me. He is living closer to Playa now, so his commute isn't as long. He said I looked good, but I know that wasn't true. I definitely need to get on a diet again when I get home.

Jorge
I walked to Jorge's store and he was there. He gave me a bracelet as a Christmas present. He told me to take one for my mom too, but I said we could share.

Travel Agents
I ran into two of the Travel Agents on 5th Avenue. They asked me if I wanted to join them for dinner. They were going to meet in the lobby at 7:30 a.m. I told them that I would try or find them at the restaurant.

La Cueva Del Chango
I walked to the far North end of town to see if Andres' was at his restaurant, but he wasn't. Guess I'll just have to e-mail him. They are really building up the North end of town.

THE Royal in Playa Del Carmen
When I returned, I ran into the Travel Agents again. I told them that I had to shower, but I would be fast. I was Speedy Gonzalez even though the water was not hot.. Eight of us went to the Mediterranean restaurant. I had steak. We had a good time and the one girl, Annie is very young, and has red hair like Sheila's. She's so cute. She fell twice already.

After dinner, no one wanted to watch the Mexican show, so most people were going to bed. However, Annie and I decided to go back to town. We walked all the way to Paseo Del Carmen again. A lot of things were starting to close, but she wanted to get an idea of what it was like. She bought a straw hat. We were going to watch the fire show at Fusion, but it didn't start till midnight, so we had 45 minutes. We walked back to the hotel and I thought my feet were going to fall off. I'm so not used to doing all that walking anymore (and, twice in one day). Tomorow I am going to wear my Fit Flops!

Jacuzzi
Came back to the room and took a jacuzzi bath to soak my aching feet.

Assessment of THE Royal Playa Del Carmen
While I love the location of THE Royal PDC, I like THE Royal in Cancun better. It's smaller, and I liked the room a bit better. Plus, they had hot water.
